You and a team of 3-4 other students will learn how to build a smart device that is currently commercialized by a HighTechU’s industry partner. That’s what we call a real-world project!
High-school students, or home-learners, in Grade 9-12 living & studying in British Columbia, Canada, who have an interest in learning through/about technology. Must also be committed to cultivating a positive, safe, & inclusive learning environment for everyone in accordance with our Core Values & Code of Conduct.
We will accept a maximum of 20 students per cohort.Â
The program focuses on the following key areas of Electrical and Computer Engineering:
- Connection of sensors to an Arduino
- Data collection and interpretation
The 2022 EngAcademy teaches the following technologies to address the above concepts:
- Engineering Design
- Electrical Circuits
- Embedded Systems
- C Coding
In addition, the program will address the folowing soft skills:
- Analytical thinking and innovation
- Complex problem-solving
- Creativity, originality and initiative
- Resilience, stress tolerance and flexibility
- Leadership and social influence
The EngAcademy program will be held on-campus in the UVic Engineering & Computer Science buildings.
After School Cohort
June 13th to 24th | Monday to Friday | 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Summer Cohort
August 15th to 19th | Monday to Friday | 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
All materials and equipments will be provided during the program.
The cost of the program is $500 (CAD) per student. There is no application fee.
